Hospitalists of Northern Michigan

Hospitalists of Northern Michigan is one of the largest private hospitalists groups in the nation. Our team is expected to grow to over 60 providers within the next year. All of the individuals who work on our team have all been chosen for their professional competence, personality and dedication to their work. HNM is held in high esteem by the staffs, medical communities, administrations and patients we serve. We are represented on many of the hospitals’ key committees. In addition to providing medical care for hospitalized patients, we also fulfill leadership, research and educator roles. We work in and with nearly every department in our partner hospitals and have an outstanding relationship with the nursing and ancillary staffs.

Hospitalists of Northern Michigan is recognized on the national level as an innovative leader in the hospitalist movement. HNM’s ability to provide cost-effective, high-quality care and unique practice partnerships have led to a number of invitations to present our model on the regional and national level. We are considered experts in the integration of physician and non-physician providers into a highly effective care management team. HNM’s providers participate in multiple national committees.

We oversee patients in all phases of the continuum of care, performing pre-hospital assessments, monitoring and guiding in-hospital treatment, and recommending post-hospital follow-up. At both admission and discharge, we reconcile the patient’s medication list and communicate any changes in condition, diagnosis or care to the outpatient providers. We are always available to provide firsthand information to patients and their families.
